reminds me of the anime paprika, you guys know that Leonardo Dicaprio is a huge anime fan right? He even bought the rights to Akira to make it american style
"Actor Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic, The Aviator) is producing the planned live-action film adaptation of Akira through his Appian Way production company. Mad Chance producer Andrew Lazar (Jonah Hex, Space Cowboys) said at Comic-Con International in August that the live-action project “is a real priority project for Warner Brothers” but is not likely to go into production before the third quarter of 2010 for a 2011 release. Otomo is an executive producer and consultant on the project."

It did remind me of Paprika come to think of it. There were strong influences to Tel'aran'rhiod(The World of Dreams) from Robert Jordan's The Wheel Of Time book series.
I enjoyed it, was the best movie of that kind since Memento, imo.

My sister rented this movie on Netflix. In the first hour of the film, I fell asleep and I didn't get it. I thought this was the most overrated film ever made IMO.
