The 90s
« on: July 26, 2009, 07:21:14 AM »

Yeah, I came across this video and thought it was an excellent show case of my child hood, and probably a lot of yours. The only thing I could probably add to that, is begging my parents for some change to go buy ice cream from the ice cream truck and that little tune it always played as it drove down the streets. But maybe kids still do that today, I don't know, I don't live in my little town any more. Oh, and the era of boy bands. They aren't nearly as popular anymore, but then they were huge.

The video goes over a small amount of cartoons I used to watch (though not nearly enough) and then goes through the video game systems and technology we had then in comparison to what we have now. I don't know, I liked the video.

Anyway, if you have any other cartoons to add, Dark Wing Duck, Gargoyles, Gummi Bears, ect. go ahead and mention it ;D  Today's cartoons just cannot compare =P

Face was alright, Gullah was bomb diggity, Eureekas Castle, still have a bunch of episodes on VHS, catdog was more new-wave to me along with Angry Beavers. Inspector Gadget was my hayday. Doug <3, Tiny Toons wasnt the type of kid I was (there was a clique for this show I think)
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT!!! Watched anamaniacs with my mom. Stick Stickly was sorta entertaining to follow between shows, Power Rangers was  the shit, Rocko got really creepy at times, Ahh Real monsters was ok, Pinky and the brain was WB which I didnt watch that often.
ALEX MACK that was so intense!! Clarissa was my favorite show for a while [dbz]  [cen] ing hated As told by Ginger arg!  Legends of the hidden temple was fun but confusing as hell.
Are you afraid of the dark was taboo with my friends, really freaky shit happened on that show, worse than goosebumps.
Rocket power was also new-wave. never heard of Hey Dude, Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego had a few shows, a kids quiz show, and a cartoon if I remember. Arnold was new-wave, but I enjoyed it. Had some good moments. kenan and Kel was too cool for me, same with All That.
Really glad i didn't watch Saved by the bell. Never really watched Fresh prince either(thank god) ORGEON TRAIL! Traded Goosebumps a lot when I was a kid, was also in some awkward drawing group for goosebumps @ school. played a lot of SNES in daycare afterschool. Slip n slide didnt work out, too many rosebushes in my backyard. Beanie Babies, had probably 40 of them, still have a few. Gigapets labled you as a god, tamogotchi was more advanced but also more common, you dirty commoner. Never read those old mystery detective books. Slinkys were cool in the 60s, Scooters were never cool. Skipit was always facinating to me, had a bunch of yo-yos.
I would mostly watch Pee-wee's playhouse and the Beetlejuice movie, a lot of animated movies, because my mom didnt let us have tv as kids.
Shows that weren't added; Smurf, Snorks, Scooby Doo, Rupert, Tin tin, Gumby, Pete and Pete.

WOW, haha. That is a huge post, Flash xD

Lets see. Gullah Gullah island was me and my sisters favorite show when we were little, catdog was lame, i also liked face, because when my brother was a toddler and face came on the tv his face lit up and he giggled and clapped, which was always cewt, angry beavers i watched some of, never was too into it, Doug was a great show, didn't watch too many tiny toons, TMNT was and forever will be a great movie series and tv series, i watched quite a bit of the animaniacs, Power Rangers was a boy show =P, Ahh Real Monsters was really good, we used to make jello jigglers shaped like them, haha, Rocko was ehh ok, and always after jackie chan adventures, pokemon, and static schock, pinky and the brain would come on, and that was about when i would change the channel.

Didn't watch Alex Mack, Clarissa was ok, As Told by Ginger was ehh, and legends of the hidden temple was pretty cool, but I agree, a little too confusing. Are you afraid of the dark was a classic me and my sister and older brother sat down to watch, along with goosebumps. My best friend at the time used to love rocket power, but I never really watched that either, and hey dude... i do not know what that is, so it couldnt have been that great. Carmen was only good for the video games, and i never liked hey arnold, but i guess it eventually grew on me. I watched some All That, almost no Kenan and Kel, and I also, never watched Saved by the Bell. Fresh Prince still plays, so I watch it a little here and there, and the slip and slides were a lot better back then, because now you always slide off and land in rocks or something... Beanie babies, i had a bunch, loved to learn their names, wasn't into books of any type at the time, i was a little kid, why would i read? and the giga pets were always awesome. Slinkys are STILL COOL! Scooters were always like a lame version of a bike, that could never go as fast, and i always tripped when i tried to do skipit. I had a million yo yos but thats because once they tangled i would just get a new one instead of untangling it. I loved my super nintendo, still do, and my favorite games were Super Mario World and Super Ghouls and Ghosts.

Beetlejuice was awesome, i didnt watch much of peewees.

Smurfs were good but snorks were wanna be smurfs, scooby doo scared me when i was real little but as i got older i liked it, didnt watch tin tin, and watched very little gumby and pete and pete.

haha, "some awkward drawing group for goosebumps @ school" xD Why was it awkward? =P

It was my first afterschool activity thing in some far off building on the other side of campus. I don't remember much about it, which is why I think i feel it was awkward. I thik my mom wanted me to do some artsy stuff and that goosebumps fan club was what interested me the most.

Oh, I guess that does make for an awkward club. o.O Who even makes a goosebumps fanart club? That seems like such a silly club idea. Do you remember if there were a lot of members?

Haha, it is, isn't it? I mean besides personal things, that involve family, friends, and school, that video really can sum up the lives of late 80s to 90s babies. =P
