Title: The Starchaser
Post by: Soloxius on March 09, 2010, 04:37:18 AM
In the somewhat distant future... Humans have achieved reliable space travel. Faster-than-light drives are now commonplace in space vessels all over the universe, allowing travel and trade between Earth and any other planet it can reach. Mankind has encountered thousands of different cultures and races, most with their own quirks and strengths. A few months ago, there was even rumors of magic being discovered. There's just one little problem with this Utopian dream...

The universe is trembling with fear. The unstoppable menace known only as the Plauge is raging through the cosmos, claiming planets left and right, leaving naught but corruption in its wake. Their taint upon life itself is forced upon any who cross their path, and leave none unassimilated. Created by injecting living beings with the Plague DNA, the Plagulings are an odd amalgamation of any useful species the Hive has come across, only twisted into shapes befitting their roles. The entire Hive is under the control of an as-of-yet-unnamed being, someone who has a strong enough willpower to control the entirety of the Plague and keep its warriors in line.

Opposite these monsters are the Starchasers, a secretive group formed at the onset of the threat to combat these horribe creatures and their eyesore of an existence. They are made up of bits and pieces of many races of the universe, and are constantly on the lookout for better ways to stave off the infectious Plague. It is rumored that those within the group are able to use magic to fight. Their mark is a small star, usually located in an area easy to show and easy to hide, such as an upper arm or on the chest, or typically above/opposite the heart. They are always looking for new recruits, and do so through specific operatives on each planet.

There have been claims that the Plague are headed towards Earth itself, to gain a stronghold with which it will lay siege to that sector of the galaxy. 6.7 billion people will lose their lives if the Plague is allowed to reach the Earth. There are also rumors that a particular exile might know of a way to stop them...

There isn't much time. The Plague must be stopped.

((Info on crafting your bios is in the Bio thread))

((EDIT: So I realize my intro post isn't big and fancy, with colored text or large picture maps (though those might come into play later :O), but I'm fairly serious about my revamp of The Starchaser. If anyone has any interest at all in participating, please PM me saying so, and perhaps even a brief summary of the character you might make for it. Doing so allows me the ability to plan specific plot points geared toward specific characters, therefore allowing more integration of players into story, and therefore a more immersive experience. If you yourself are not interested, but know someone who might be, please tell them about it and/or direct them my way. Your help is much appreciated! :D))

Cold. Cold unbearable. From naught but the small cooling device he kept on hand as a memento of his old life. He switched the device off and it became a comfortable 90 degrees in his living quarters once more. "Ahhh~ Much better," Zarius said happily. "Stupid cold." He glanced out the window. A planet eased its way by, an icy orb of cold. The new autopilot he'd found was working marvelously. And so cheap! The black market really was the way to go around these parts. Soon he'd be back on his homeworld, the place he'd been sent away from all those years ago. He'd find them this time, and join them, if it was the last thing he did!

Pyronia. One of the few inhabitable worlds in the Elemental System. Well, barely. But there were parts of it scattered all over that you could comfortably live in, build a house, farm the land, raise a family, that sort of thing. This wasn't Zarius's way of life, though. His was the drifter lifestyle. Doing odd jobs for various companies throughout the galaxy to make a living. All leading up to this. Home. He couldn't wait to get in the hot springs~ Soak up all that heat... He shivered. Too damn cold in space.

Dante sat opposite his son. He hadn't seen Cole in three years, due to his probation. He had joined the pyronian resistance only a week ago, and his family had to sneak from a human embassy just to join him in their underground complex.

The resistance was small, only twelve members dedicated to driving humans off of pyronia. Dante was the only human. They were not known well, Dante only knew them because he had spied on them when he was a marine. Well, the less known the better. If the plague isn't just a rumor then it would be easier to stay out of their sight and reach. And if they pass pyronia, the resistence still fights for a worthy cause. Cole once asked why his father hated his own kind, and he replied; "we are greedy, taking planets that aren't ours, thinking we can kill anyone we want, the resistence and I beg to differ." Cole never asked that question again.

Sol. The other name for Earth's sun. He too had been called this once, when he was exiled from Pyronia. Back in the days when he fought for his people's rights... and killed those who opposed. Zarius shook his head. "Why am I thinking about the past...? The present is all that matters now!" He glanced out the window again. This time it was the home of the Ethers, that immense tribe of psychics and seers. They spread out throughout the worlds, easily making their income. "Me? I had to do backbreaking labor, make fire the normal way... All to keep from dying of hunger, or worse.. Hmph."

He glanced at his watch. It'd be morning when he landed outside Cendia, the largest city in the area he'd be exploring. Hopefully someone would know about the Starchasers, and be able to help him. The big crowds would help him hide from any guards, as well. The proper hiding place for an exile. He touched his chest opposite his heart. Hopefully no one would see the mark left from his exile... Throwing on a shirt and some trousers, Zarius headed to the cockpit. "G'mornin', Sheila. How're we lookin' today?" he asked his AI unit.

"Systems optimal, sir," it replied in a smooth European accent. "The new hardware has been integrated successfully. System failure chances are minimal. Hopefully it'll stay like this for a while, Sol~" "I thought I told you not to call me that anymore." "Old habits die hard, as they say," it said cheerfully. "Yeah yeah, just keep it to a minimum, alright? Don't want to blow my cover and get you hauled off to be scrapped, right?" he said with a mischievous grin. The AI was silent for a few moments. "That's not funny, Sol."

The leader of the pyronian resistence, Dermian, pulled Dante away from his son. "Listen Dante, I know you joined this group just to protect Cole," he began "but it don't mean you won't need to contribute."
"About time" Dante joked, "What do you need?"
"We have a contact in the Capital, we haven't heard from him in an entire month. We want you simply find him and see what happened. His name is Peserain, and he lives in the celler of the Weapon's depot."
"The Capital, that place is full of human military. I'll be ripped to shreds!" Dante exclaimed, "They'll recognize me on sight!"
"Then stay out of sight," Dermian said, frowning "If you want to stay in this group, then you're doing this!" Dante grabbed his bag and walked out of the complex without saying a word.

Dante was walking a hundred miles on the hottest planet in the galaxy, nonstop. "Steal a car" he thought. To bad he was walking without roads.

The metal was cold and lifeless, a hunk of welded chunks of metallic elements forming a ship capable or withstanding the conditions of space. It was at rest, within the Peace Corp. base, plagued with officials, in their matching uniforms, like drones. All were just drones, doing their jobs, like machines, and not thinking more into it. That's what repetitive jobs at the Peace Corp became. As people came to do the same things each and every day, with the same way, with the same people; it became a matter of mindless labor. That wasn't Chiyoko's circumstances as a member of the Intergalactic Peace Corp. Every day was packed with new experiences, as was the lifestyle of a medical professional, faced with various trials each day.

Her feet carried her along the metallic ground, the echoes of the sounding of her foot prints against the metal resonating around her. The door slid open as she walked in, opposite of a man behind a desk. "You wanted to see me, sir." She said to her commanding officer.

"Yes, I've got another mission for you, if you choose to accept it." He responded, "It will at least get you off this planet, as a distant one is experiencing severe civil war and plague. Oddly, Lunians seem unaffected by the plague and so it was brought to our attention that we are to recruit Lunian residents to help intervene with the problem."

She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, "Is that so?" She wondered out loud, "Alright." She concluded, "Sounds easy enough, I accept the mission.

"Very good." He answered handing her a file, "You're to leave immediately; the next ship departs within the hour."

She nodded, "Understood." She then stood and left the room.

He tapped a pen on the control panel. The wait was nervewracking. Shouldn't he be there by now? Ugh. A ship passed him by, quickly. He frowned. Who in the world has a ship that fast?

Must be the Peace Corps. Those magnificent bastards had saved his life more than a few times when the money was low. Their health care was phenominal, and they only hired the cutest staff~ He grinned. Maybe they'd have some representatives there when he got back...

A whole week of walking. Dante thought he was going to die in the intence heat, a lifeless twig in a forest fire. Right before he gave up, he noticed the city on the horizon. Forget the mission, that city had air conditioning! He broke into a run, and was inside the city before long.

Only when he was blasted with cool air did he remember the mission. He had to find the weapons depot. Maps were luckily located across the city, and in under a an hour of moving with the crowd he was there. On the door however, was a sign:

Technical Difficulties, closed until further notice

Technical difficulties in a gun store? No sence in that. He went around to the back and , when he was postive no one saw, opened a window and climbed in. "Not enough technical difficulties to lock the windows". He looked for the celler door, but all there was was a trap door with a ladder. Close enough. "Peserain?" Dante called out, "You down here?". He felt around the walls for a light switch, and finally found Peserain. Dead. His eyes were full of madness, his body was that of a pyronian but...different, twisted. He also had a bullet wound in his forehead. Dante understood, "Guess it's not just a rumor. Hope  he was recently on another planet."

"Hey Sheila, we got any activity on the surface? Might pick me up a snack before I start looking for them." "One moment please," the AI replied. "........"

Sitting back in his chair, Zarius sighed. "Are you scanning the whole planet? Jeez..." "Hold your horses, Sol~" it chirped. "Done. A small pack of dracolizards just outside the city proper, freshly killed by the sentry guns... and a lone human walking to the city?" "What? What kind of idiot walks between the cities. He must be dying of heat! Hm. Interesting but not interested. Take us down to the meat, I'm pretty starved!" And thus the Vae Victus descended through the atmosphere towards the city.

There was no point in trying to call Dermian, the complex was undetectable, even with an earpeice. Besides, if the plague reached pyronia then it would be a job for the peace corps. To avoid being dectected fully, Dante simply sent the adress of the store and moved on. He might as well stay a day or two before he had to walk another week. Would give him time to steal a car.

He found a motel on the other side of town. Dante put in his name as Derek Grainer, his former commander. The military checks these lists. For a while he just slept, making up for lost time.  He won't stay still for long, and looks around for a cruiser to steal. After looking around town, he see's something just outside the city gate. He decides against stealing the ship. Maybe he should just ask for a ride.

As the Vae Victus cleared the atmosphere and landed, Zarius prepared himself to leave. No jacket needed; the warm atmosphere of the surface would be easy to acclimate to. Still, he would take a flak jacket he stole off some military personnel who got in his way on the Aerian planet. Lightweight, strong as steel. Hopefully he wouldn't need to use its strength; hopefully he'd make it in quickly and peacefully. A knife he also took, and a standard issue laser pistol. Hopefully he wouldn't have to use the gun, but the knife? ...he liked the knife. Been with him a long time. Back when she was still around... He shook his head. The ship was landing just outside the city gates, near a pile of meat which once was a large dracolizard.

The landing gear deployed, the ship landed gracefully. "Heh, see you in a few hours, hopefully," he called to the AI. "Pfft... come back soon.." it replied, almost longingly. He walked down the hatch, jumping the last few feet into the dirt. The tiny claws at the ends of his toes rattled in his boots, longing to sink into the warm land. He shook his head again. Now was the time to eat. He walked up behind the cover of the meat pile and started cutting some loose into his other hand...

The ship was low on fuel, as it hovered over a nearby planet.

"We need to restock." Chiyoko told the pilot, "We don't have enough supplies for the mission, and we've got to refuel."

The pilot nodded, lowering down onto the planet's surface below. "We seem to have landed on Pyronia, be careful as the surface is very high in temperature. We can't be here long if we intend on getting there by our designated arrival time, so try not to linger."

"Understood, I'll be back within the hour with all the supplies necessary." Chiyoko nodded, as the door opened and she stepped down onto the surface. The air was heavy against her skin, hot and difficult to adjust to. She let out  sigh, pacing through the town. They would need a food and water supply as well as more medicinal necessities. It seemed she had a lot to do in a small allotment of time.

Dante was lucky. The driver argeed to give him a ride to Akove, The closest town to the complex. It would take less than an hour to walk from there. But he was only able to do it in one week. When the time was up, he would meet Dante in the hotel. He just had to kill time until then.  There were bars to get drunk at, fights to bet on, and sports to play. But he couldn't get his mind off of the infected pyronian. It was just disturbing knowing the plague was already on the planet

He decided to go to the store, buy some food, water, maybe some clothes. He browsed through the store, grabbing fruit, corn, and 3 bottles of water. He'd just gotten used to eating with his son, now he missed it even more. He searched through his pockets. Nothing, damn it. He decided he would work off the food, give himself something to do. They agreed, and he went into the back to stack the boxes.

Zarius finished eating the meat he'd sliced off, and wiped his mouth of the blood. He sighed happily. "Hahhh~ That was delicious. Reminds me of the old days..." He shook his head. "Time to go inside and see what I can dig up!"

He sprinted to the city gate and went inside, the sentry guns paying him no heed...

Ah, the bustling city. Full of ne'er-do-wells and bums, highbloods and their bodyguards, people of every walk of life called this place home. Zarius chuckled to himself quietly. This place had once been a home away from home, back when he worked for the government. Now, he wouldn't be surprised if no one recognized him. In fact, he was counting on it. It wouldn't do for an exile to be waltzing around the city, would it?

Dante decided to walk back to the weapon depot. There might be something in there that could help him learn more about the plague. As far as he knew, the peace corps didn't get or understand the message. He slipped through the window once again.

There was nothing unusual about the top floor, every thing was neat, guns and knives hanging on the wall. But the celler was ransacked, beer spilled, guns off the wall, paintings ruined, and a carving on the wall, letters written in what looked like Siberakonian. All he could make out were the and four other letters. S---c-a--r-.

Scar? Is that what it says? Maybe a local could translate the rest. Dante would worry about it in the morning. With that, he went upstairs and fell asleep, gun in hand.

Zarius wandered the town carefully, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. In the market district, there were a few signs of suspicious activity, but that was likely just the black market conducting business. And then there was the weapons depot...

It looked like someone was inside.

He walked through the front door, making certain no one had seen him. He called out, "Hello? Jager? Are you here?" He stepped through the aisles quietly, glancing all around. The door to the cellar was open... He drew his laser pistol. "Jager? Are you down there? Speak up!"

Noise. Someone calling out. But not to Dante. A pyronian was looking into the celler. This could mean one of three things. This person knew Peserain too, he ran the store, or he was wondering about the "technical difficulties". Dante didn't care. The pyronian has a pistol, he had a pulse rifle. Dante pointed the gun at the pyronian. "Drop the gun and turn around," he started "You want tell me why you're in here?"
Title: Re: The Starchaser

Zarius bristled. "Kind of a cowardly move, sneaking up on a guy like that." He dropped his gun, waves of heat swirling around inside of him as his surprise became curiousity. "Who are you, and where is Jager, the store keeper?" He turned around to face his would-be attacker. "....a human. Don't see many of you here on Pyronia. Too hot for your kind. Though I remember a place an acquaintance of mine lived, beautiful village."

He paused. "Look, if I meant you any harm, I would've blasted you with fire by now, so can you just lower the damn weapon and tell me what's going on?"
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Skelzor on December 02, 2010, 03:26:13 PM
Dante lowered the gun. "As far as I know, Jagar's dead. There's a corpse downstairs. I don't know whose, but it doesn't matter. It's infected" He began. "I came here to gather information, so what are you here for? And too hot, I had to walk a week to this place, I can stand the city, believe me"

"D.... did you say 'infected?'" he said, blinking in surprise. He suddenly became very serious. "Show me, now."

Dante pointed to the trapdoor. "Down there, but don't freak. I'm pretty sure he was rencently on another planet. I just hope it isn't contagious by touch. My name's...Derek. Derek Grainer. So this secret group, what are they called?"
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Soloxius on December 03, 2010, 11:12:33 PM
Zarius walked quickly to the trapdoor and flipped it open, heading downstairs. "It's a secret organization called the Starchasers, they're looking to exterminate an alien race that consumes and assimilates all life it comes across, called-" He stopped short of the infected body. ".... [cen] . He's been partially transformed. I wonder if the Plague is already here.." He noticed the writing on the wall. "Scar... this.. this looks like.. he was writing Starchaser? What?!" He quickly started looking around the room. "Quickly, Derek or whatever your name is, help me look for a star. We're looking for a star symbol, it might be around here somewhere!"
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Skelzor on December 04, 2010, 07:20:42 AM
Dante climbed down the latter. "A star. Got it. How do you know these starchasers are on Pyronia?" he asked while searching around on the walls, "Couldn't they be on any planet?" Dante paused to look at the body, "Please tell me the plague isn't contagious through air..." he said with a shiver.
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Soloxius on December 04, 2010, 05:07:06 PM
"They're on every planet, as far as I know; as I said, they're very secretive about those sorts of things. But I do know that it started here, so I'm fairly certain they'll be here somewhere." He pressed various points around the wall in a star pattern, searching eagerly for any clue as to the whereabouts of the starchaser mentioned in the scribble on the wall. He paused as "Derek" asked about contaminants. "Oh, don't worry about that. You have to be injected with Plague DNA in order to be transformed, and they only do so ritualistically... usually. Hopefully they don't change that anytime soon.."

He sighed heavily. "Doesn't look like there's any secret entrances around here. I guess I'll have to keep looking around the city..."
Title: Re: The Starchaser

Dante sighed of releif, "Thank goodness. If the starchaser base isn't here, can I tag along, help you look for it? I've got nothing to do for 6 days." he started back up the latter, " If I'm bored enough I might try to join myself."
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Soloxius on December 05, 2010, 11:21:06 PM
Zarius smiled. "Heh, yeah. Sure! I could use the help." He too climbed the ladder, leaving the poor infected corpse laying where it was. He said a prayer for whoever it was when he reached the top of the ladder. "Now then.. I was planning on checking the market district first, then perhaps snoop around the palace a little. Where do you think a secret organization might be hidden, Derek?"
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Skelzor on December 06, 2010, 07:26:04 AM
Dante pondered for a couple seconds. "Well, if I were to create a secret organization, I would hide it right in plain sight. You probably know the city better than me, do you know any place in the city that has a star as an emblem of sorts? Or maybe the same initials but different words?"
Title: Re: The Starchaser

He scratched his chin. "Hmmm, not that I can think of. But if what you say is true.. I'd check the palace first then; but be warned, they probably won't like it if they find me. Kind of a sore subject, don't ask."

Dante chuckled, "I'd rather not show my face their either, but this is some pretty high stake crap. We need to get in their, so maybe we could sneak in. I have no idea how good their security is though. And if we get caught, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the axe-to-the-neck treatment. Dante climbed out the window, "I'll tell you when we find the starchasers, or get caught trying, heh. Besides, I said I would never tell anyone besides my boss and son. The palace is about 20 blocks from here, I passed it on my way to the motel. Just stay low and inside the crowds."

"Your 'boss', eh. Sounds fishy. But I guess your business is your own... until it gets us into trouble. I guess the same goes for me; can't let everyone know my DARK SECRETS, heheh." He chuckled a little bit for some odd reason. He headed out the door and into the crowds outside, waiting for 'Derek.' He whistled a little happy tune.

The Syrinos a pirate ship under the command of Levaunt Kyur. It was a middle glass gunship meaning it could hold its own in a small fight, but was no where near good enough to take on even half of a battle cruiser. Levaunt was of the Vulcurry race, giving him and almost purple skin and eyes. His hair was tentacles thick purple-ish tentacles. Levaunt sat in his captains chair looking out into space. He was waiting on a transmission from Pirates moon, for directions. There where eight crew members in the Blackmoon Pirates but they had room for more. Which was anyone dumb enough to be a pirate. His first mate Thomas, a human,  stood beside the chair awaiting orders. Thomas had short golden hair and blue eyes, he stood six and a half feet. He was very tall for his kind.

Then finally the wide widow that separated the bridge from space changed from clear to a picture of another man.

"Greetings Levaunt, i am sorry for the wait but i had other things to attend to. But anyway, The King needs you to go to Pyronia. There is a man there waiting for you, he has somthing King wants, get it and come back here. I will be sending you further instructions after i hang up. Do not fail us Levaunt."

And just like that the transmission was over. Levaunt looked at Thomas and Thomas nodded, he then gave orders to the crew. "Move it now, set Reality Drive to Pyronia. Lets get in and out people."
Levaunt looked ahead and watched as the space around the ship began to elongate and a split second later they were off.

Dante swung from the side of the building "Don't worry, my boss isn't in any relation to the mafia/Feds. Far from it actually. Come on, we need to get going. Remember, stay inside the crowds," He started down the street and joined the first cluster he saw.

Zarius followed his new partner's bold lead into the crowd... and they were on their way. A few close calls were had, as some of the palace guards were wandering around the city as well, but eventually the pair finally made it to the gates of the palace. "The Torchis is inside. Our glorious king indeed. Pfah," he scoffed, then mumbled something under his breath.

In at last! "The starchasers better be here. So, where would an organization like them hide in a palace? Any ideas?" Dante heard Zarius mutter something. "Don't be a jackass, if we draw any attention to ourselves, chances are we'll be arrested at the very least." Dante positioned his hand over his dead eye, hiding his most noticable feature.

((XD You guys post SOOO MUCH! It's okay... I was struggling to understand what was happening but I can keep up easier now :3 I'll post moar! ^^))

Chiyoko walked through crowds, searching around. She was unfamiliar with the city and had no idea where she was going. Her attention was captured by an outstanding shade of red hair, a tall thin man accompanied by a much darker appearing man. They'd walked past her, not seeming to notice her.

"Don't worry, my boss isn't in any relation to the mafia/Feds. Far from it actually. Come on, we need to get going. Remember, stay inside the crowds," He started down the street and joined the first cluster he saw.

She tilted her head curiously, 'Hmm... That doesn't seem suspicious at all...' She thought, looking around her to see if she was the only one who'd overheard their conversation. 'Well... Maybe I should investigate! Just in case...' She was really just looking for an excuse to follow, her curiosity peaked by this point. She casually trailed behind them, listening in on the rest of their conversation.

'The palace?' She wondered quietly, hiding several feet away... 'I wonder...' She took several steps closer.

"You never know, a whisper might not, but you never know what these guys can hear." Dante looked around, keeping wary of guards "Really, where?"

'They aren't... supposed...' Chiyoko looked over the palace, 'Oi.. I'm going to get in trouble too if I keep following... but...' She knew these men were up to something, what was this about the starchasers? Despite her cautiousness towards not getting in trouble, she still approached to hear more of their conversation... They seemed as if they were up to no good.

She smirked quietly, as they'd not seemed to notice her following and listening in.

"Well... kind of a secret, but..." he said, looking through the bars of the wrought iron fence standing before them. He pointed out a particular spot in the wall. "There. We just have to push on the wall somewhere over there, and a door should open up. Don't ask me how I know... I just do."

Chiyoko pushed away from where she was hiding, if she didn't say something to someone these two would start trouble. She was unfamiliar with the planet, but if they were trying to break into a palace, they just had to be up to no good! When she'd turned, to go, she stumbled over herself, falling to the ground, the contents of her bag falling across the ground as she sat in the dirt, with a soft "Hmph." Sound at first before she realized what had happened, "Waaaaaaaaah~!" She looked around her at the contents laying across the ground, pill bottles all over, some closed too loosely and now spilled.

At that moment she'd realized she'd made much too much noise to have not been noticed.

Zarius started at the noise. "Wha-?!" He turned and looked at Chiyoko laying in the dirt, and immediately went to her side. "Are you alright, miss?" He noticed all the pills and bottles laying in the dirt and started picking them up carefully. "Wow, you musta had quite a fall there," he said, gesturing for Dante to help. "C'mon, Derek, help me get this stuff off the ground for the little lady, heh. We can worry about that in a second."

Chiyoko flinched as he approached her, hugging her bag and scurrying back, "Eee-no!" She stumbled, "No, I mean.. yes! No... I'm fine!" She couldn't just get up and go, as she wanted to, those medications were necessary and none too cheap.

She looked back at the other man, "I... I can do it myself... Th-thanks..." She went pale, she just wanted to get the stuff and go hide under a rock. She picked up all the bottles that hadn't spilled, throwing them in the bag, before focusing on the spilled pills.

He'd seemed nice enough, but... No, they were no good. She was certain of it. If they weren't already aware she was listening in, it would have been best if she kept silent.

Raising an eyebrow, Zarius asked, "Why're you cowering like that...? It's not like we're gonna hurt you.." He smiled hopefully. He then noticed where they were. ".....you weren't...listening to us..were you?" He frowned. "Great. Just great......"

And there went that plan of action... Lie maybe? No.. not worth the effort. "I.. uhm.. I..." She stumbled, as she finished gathering the pills, capping the bottle, and throwing it into the bottle, "I'm sorry..!" She concluded nervously. If they were as nice as they seemed, they'd maybe just let her go with a warning, right? She hoped...

Zarius had a worried look on his face. "Look, you must obviously think we're like.. thieves or something, right? Well we aren't. I'm looking for a group of... friends, of mine. And I think they might have a secret base somewhere in or under the palace. So that's why we're trying to get in." He leaned in closer. "Secret, got it? Please don't go and tell anyone... especially not the guards....." He stood up and held a hand to her to help her up. "I mean, it's not like we're planning on HURTING anyone, right Derek?"

The Syrinos had made it. Levaunt and his crew were now entering the atmosphere of Pyronia. Levaunt was looking for a contact which ran a shop in a major city. It wasnt long before they were at docking altitude. The secondary pilot looked over at Levaunt, "Captain there are six docks open for landing should I request landing permission?"

Without having to wait for Levaunts answer Thomas replied, "no no no, we cant dock in any space port. If they run or ship number we are finished. Land us out side the city i see there is already a ship there so land a mile south of it."

Once landed Levaunt got ready, he wore his regular black pants and boots with a big brown jacket which he wore on his shoulders. This way his hands would be free to do anything they needed to. He went to the ships weapons room and grabbed to automatic laser pistols. Levaunt holstered them on his lower back covered by the jacket. He gave the order to lower the ramp and off he went. He stepped out onto the hot planet and sighed, it had been a long while since he had been here.

Levaunt looked stern as he walked toward the city, in his mind he was thinking. person better be here, i havent got time to waste on a pointless mission. The pirate king wants me to find information on some group called "Starchasers" whatever they are they dont seem like much. But what do i know, he is the king and i must do what i am asked." Levaunt headed on to the city thinking all the way...

Dante nodded and frowned at Zarius, "this is what you get for whispering" he turned toward the women. "We aren't criminals, we are just looking for some of his friends" Dante paused and added "What's with all the pills, and why were you so alarmed when they fell. Seems like something a cartel messenger would do," Dante grinned, then turned grim. "Tell anyone about us, and we're going to die. Can you handle that kind of guilt?"
Title: Re: The Starchaser

Chiyoko regained her composure, jumping to her feet, "I'm a medical specialist for the Intergalactic Peace Corps!" She defended, holding the bag tightly, "These pills are expensive and necessary... that's irrelevant however!" she added, getting bold, "If you aren't criminals what reason would they have for sentencing you to death..? Those friends are probably prisoners or something... otherwise I don't see the sense in breaking in."

She fastened the bag tightly slinging it over her shoulder; they were surrounded by people, she realized. She was safe, all she'd need to do is scream and yell for assistance and they'd be busted, furthermore their were nearby guards. "What would then happen if I kept your secret?" she asked, curiously, "Would the ramifications worsen the situation, than the death of just you two..?" As in the triage department of medical care, her goal was to inspect the circumstances, and determine which method would result in the most good. Whether this was morally right, she'd not yet decided, but she'd hear the two out before casting objection.

Zarius frowned. "Look, I promise they're not prisoners. Not of anyone. As far as I know, the palace has ties to them, so at the very least they're looking out for the good of everyone on the planet. I mean, what reason have we given you to believe that we're bad people?" He smiled weakly. "Please... I just want to help them do their mission."

Dante agreed "Medical specialist, huh? No, we are not jailbreakers. A group apparently dedicated to destroying." Dante paused briefly, "the plague, would a criminal be trying to stop an apocalypse? And to answer your question, it's not crime if you don't get caught, alright? But that was then, this is now!"
Title: Re: The Starchaser

Chiyoko stared at the both of them, "Oh that sounds convincing... riiiiiight..." She answered sarcastically, she turned back to Zarius, "What reason? I need a reason to not trust a pair of men creeping around talking about mafias and sneaking into palaces? I would think that's reason enough..." She looked both men over, "From where I'm standing the both of you look like no good trouble makers; it's my job to prevent trouble from starting in the first place."
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Soloxius on December 09, 2010, 07:52:17 PM
Zarius frowned. "What if I promised no one would get hurt? I mean, I wasn't planning on it in the first place... I just need to get inside the palace and look for the Starchasers so I might help them try and stop the Plague from infesting the entire planet!" He sat on the ground and leaned against the bars, the bar in the middle turning red from the heat his body generated in his frustration. He sighed loudly, the noise sounding like water hissing on a stove.

"I don't recall saying anything about the mafia in the palace. Listen you want to stop us? Do it then. Stop us. Call the guards. Alert the Feds. Have us shot. All we wanted was to help the  [cen]ing planet!!" Dante  paused, "But if you're going to snitch on anyone, snitch on me. This guy has done nothing wrong, he's just trying to help the galaxy. I'm the one charged for murder, theft, and desertion." Dante threw his hands out. "Go ahead, arrest me. But let him go."

Just then, Zarius frowned harder, and the bar behind him made a hissing sound as it melted away into a puddle of molten metal. He turned around, surprised. "Uhhhhhhh... totally didn't mean to do that.." Then it struck him. "Oh. Duh! We have a way in now! Thanks for not ratting us out, miss! Got us some starchaser-hunting to do!" He grinned and slipped through the bars carefully, running up to the wall. He pressed some stones in a star pattern, and just like that, a door opened in the wall, swinging out next to him. "Aha! I knew it was still here~" He mumbled something to himself happily and slipped inside, leaving Dante and Chiyoko standing there in the street.

Chiyoko frowned, "Hey wait!" She slipped past Dante as hurriedly as she could; his presence made her tense, and she wished to get to the other man before he could do anything stupid. Before she knew it she'd slipped past the fence, and into the open doorway. Suddenly she realized, she was going to be in big trouble... not only would she make her time budget now, but she was breaking laws too... If they caught her, her whole career was at stake.

Dante grinned, "You got to love reverse phsycology" he jumped through the bars and into the open doorway. It looks like the trip hadn't been for nothing after all. He'd better catch the women before she did something she would regret.

Zarius grinned as he slipped into the gray dull passageway. "Yes, yes! I remember this!" He mumbled a little something to himself excitedly. He traced a hand along the wall as Chiyoko entered behind him. He whirled around, surprised. He grinned as he said, "I didn't think you'd follow me. Ah well, you get to come along for the ride!" He started walking down the passage to the south, trailing a hand against the mismatched stones, leaving a little burn mark in his excitement.
Title: Re: The Starchaser
Post by: Adelaide on December 11, 2010, 03:30:32 AM
Chiyoko watched the burn mark trail, "No! That's not what..." She growled through clenched teeth in frustration, "Go where?! What are you doing?!" She could hear the approaching footsteps behind her from the other man catching up to them. "Oi... I'm in so much trouble..." She said quietly to herself, thinking back to the pilots direct orders... 'Definitely gonna have my head for this one...' she thought downwardly.

Dante walked through the passage, following the burn mark to guide him through the hall. At the end, he could faintly see Zarius, so the women should be between him and Zarius. "Hey!" he called out, "Wait up! I can't see very well in here!" Dante continued to struggle through the hall, the burn mark being his only guide.

Zarius merely seemed to glow brighter, his hand glowing visibly in the dark as he muttered excitedly and occasionally giggled. Very odd behavior indeed! "Should be here somewhere, ooohoohoo it's all the same!.." he kept muttering over and over. He finally stopped at a dead end, and took a knee to look at the floor. He lit a small flame on the tip of his finger, illuminating the passageway a little more. "The texts should be here..." he said quietly, deep in thought.

Dante saw a faint blur of light. Zarius. Who else? He seemed to know where he was going. Dante hurried up to try and catch up with the living LED light. " Zarius!" he called out, "Can you here me?!"  Either this is the one tunnel in the universe that didn't echo, or Zarius was wrapped up in his own thoughts too much to heed him any attention. He tried to find the women, but he couldn't see her either. Damn bars. If it weren't for them he might be able to see where the hell he was going. Then he noticed Zarius had stopped, " Did you find anything?" He cried,  hoping Zarius would recognize him.

Zarius looked up at him as though in a haze. "What do you want?!" he said in a loud whisper. "I'm kind of busy here!" He looked back at the ground and traced his fingers across the ground quickly but quietly, whispering to himself excitedly. A huge grin crossed his face as he did so.

Chiyoko looked at the both of them, if Dante's claims were true, she'd just gotten herself mixed up with a couple of maniacs. Intimidated, she backed up against a wall, watching the both of them and thinking she should go back, only... It was dark... Too dark. Aside from the light being given off by Zarius, it was all darkness. She looked back to the other two, hoping that the results of this wouldn't be as horrible as she was anticipating.

Dante Threw his hands up in defense, "Okay, okay! Do want you need to do," he turned to the woman, "So what were you doing on pyronia anyway? The place isn't infected and there isn't a war at the moment. There are a lot more places that seem to need help. Or are you really in the cartel?" Dante smiled.

Levaunt had made it to the City. He ignored the odd looks he got from the towns people, he pressed on through the crowd. He had an address which he ws trying to find with little to no luck. He did not mind the heat o much but the crowds were bothering him. Then he was stopped by a man in a brown overcoat, his face was hidden and this made Levaunt curious.

"Levaunt your contact has been killed. dont act like its shocking, just look casual. It was The Plauge from what we gather." Levaunt gave a short laugh and nodded. He sent his message to the mans mind. So how should i preceed? shoul i head back to Pirates Moon or stay here? I dont know how long i can hide my ship so tell me what i should do.

The man looked around and sighed, "Stay here and see what you can gather, Maybe people know somthing. We didnt think the Plauge would reach here yet but that does not matter. Find out what you can, find a lead and follow it, those re your orders."

The man walked off leaving Levaunt in thought. With a snarl Levaunt walked on towards the city centre where he hoped to find somthing...

Chiyoko glowered at him, "I've far more specialized training- We were low on fuel and necessary supplies to treat an outbreak of disease on another planet; I'm to gather the necessary medications and equipment to adequately treat the victims." She looked back to Zarius, "This simply was the closest planet in collaboration with the Peace Corps. There's a IGPC Base here."

Dante started to have second thoughts. Zarius was mumbling and spewing words like a crazy person. He'd hate to say it, but the woman seemed the sanest of the three. He could leave, but he could barely make it with a light. He doubted he could even make it with both eyes. Zarius  said something on a button. "Maybe it's on the ceiling, or you have to say a password," Dante suggested. He couldn't think of anything else. He turned to the woman. The more she liked them, the less a chance of a guillotine. "So what's your name?" Dante asked. Might as well make small talk while waiting for Zarius to do his thing.

"Private Chiyoko Hisa." She answered back, "Soon to be Corporal~! That is... unless this little "mission" you two have me mixed up in screws everything up for me.." she whined indignantly. "Dante Remirez, former marine in the pyronian branch of the human empire. And we did NOT get you mixed up in this. You got yourself involved." Dante reduced his voice to a whisper, "I'd hate to say it, but I think Flames over here is starting to go crazy. I don't think anything is here. Do you have anything that would give us enough light to get out of here?" Dante didn't want to just leave Zarius, but he seemed to be looking at a dead end.

Damn it. No one was supposed to know his real name. Chiyoko's part of the peace corps., not a headhunter for the human empire. Zarius, although maybe a bit off, wasn't a weasel. Unknown to the group they were being watched. Levaunt had spotted them as they were trying to find their way into the secret rooms. Sneaking into a palace did not seem like somthing that they were supposed to do. They had to be looking for something. There were three of them, enough to handle he thought. Well at least he could run fast so if need be Levaunt could escape.

Levaunt creeped behind them just far enough so that he hoped he would not be spotted. As he moved he kept one hand behind him ready to grab one of his pistols. He could hear there quabeling, so he took advantage of that using it to mask his on movements.

Levaunt walked into the roon as silently as he could. He had drawn his gun with his right hand and already had it ready to fire. With a deep brethe he stepped into the room with the gun pointed at the guard. He was aware that his presence was a suprise to them all but he remained focused. Being a Vulcurry he could not speak, instead they communicate mentally, through visions and pictures. Levaunt entered the guards mind and sent visions to his mind. In his mind the guard saw his own body ripped to pieces, shot in the forhead. Other visions of his fingers being broken one at a time if he didnt surrender.
Levaunt did not change his serious look as he stared down the guard. He began to walk forward hoping this guard would do as he was told, Levaunt didnt want more guards comming because of a needless kill.

Chiyoko's eyes widened as she stumbled back against a wall, "Why did you-!!" She raced to the fallen man, digging in her bag, holding gauze the the wounds as she tried for a pulse. Useless...
