Yeah the beach isnt a big deal for us Califolk since we are right next to it.
I go to the beach about once a season. Mostly for a bonfire. Even tho I am not a fan of swimming, I feel a sort of belonging to the beach.

I have no rhythm or power for swimming, not a lot of fat to keep me floating either. Im tall, slender, and have lower body strength; im a runner by nature.

o.o If the fat people have air in their lungs, they can float. When all the lungs are empty, or filled with water, then you are able to sink. Also, fat people definitely would float better, because fat floats quite well.
