So... Do I have a story for the 4M!
My roommates and I threw a good sized Halloween party over the weekend. We also have a cat. Gallons of alcohol were consumed, pumpkins were carved(I'll post the one I carved up later), fog and strobelights kept us going strong all night long...
Then I woke up on the floor, half naked, and violently ill. The sun was unusually bright and I noticed that someone left the sliding door wide open. SHIT, THE CAT! So I fumble around looking for the cat and can't find him. No one has seen our cat Guinness(We love beer) at all. So we continue our day of being hungover and figure the cat will just turn up. Wrong. The cat hasn't been seen at all for the entire day.
My roommates girlfriend says goodbye and leaves while we are having a little LAN party. Then he gets a text "Guinness is dead :(." Our hearts sink and we don't say anything for 4 hours. Apparently she saw him in the road when she left. We live right on a very busy street, as many of you know from overhearing the sirens that always are driving by. I felt like shit and held on to a shred of hope that its not our cat.
At midnight I couldn't take it anymore. I had to know! So we set off with a beer box , gloves, and a trash bag just in case. Sure enough we saw a dead black cat in the middle of the street. "God damn it! He couldn't even die on the side of the road! He had to die RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC!" So we wait for a break in cars and grab the thing.
Yup its our Guinness, little white spots and everything. I started crying real bad and put him in the box, I yelled a bit and then calmed down. Gallons of spidertears were shed. My grandfather died this exact day last year and I was afraid that my loved ones were going to die each year on this day. We then decided to bury him at the top of this HUGE hill that we sometimes go to and so, after drinking a few shots we grab a shovel and head off. Pretty badass.
We dig him a nice grave, loaded it with rocks and a big tree branch to mark it. We said our goodbyes, what we loved about him, etc etc. We head back, feeling like shit and we see a shooting star along the way.
Then the SECOND we set foot on our complex we see it: a black cat the same size as Guinness about 50 ft away! We walk faster but it excapes us. We spend another hour looking around the complex, in bushes, under cars, etc. The cat literally disappeared. So we walk inside and I head to my room and lay on my bed. All of a sudden the
ing cat jumps up on my lap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently he decided to sleep for 20 hours under my bed. I rush to my roommate and we hug with the cat between us, very excited that our little buddy is safe and sound. We had a good laugh and harped on the guy for taking after my roommate by being super lazy!
The evening will always be in my memories as my best Halloween, but many questions were still unanswered;
Who left the door open? Who was that cat we saw when we got back? Most important:
WHOSE CAT DID WE BURY!?!?!
