Newtype USA to Cease Publication
AD Vision has revealed that Newtype USA Magazine, which will cease publication with its February issue, will be replaced by a new magazine titled "PiQ," which will cover, "anime, manga, videogames, comics, movies, TV, digital media, high-tech gadgets, and more." According to ADV, the discontinuation of Newtype USA Magazine, "is not a reflection on the quality of the magazine or its success in the marketplace. The decision to sunset Newtype was made at the executive level due to a difference in strategic corporate needs between the licensor [Kadokawa Shoten] and Newtype USA's parent company [ADV]."

LOL that is the Politically correct way for them to LIE about the reasons they are doing this.. man it is sad but anime is Falling fast in america's public intrest and ADV is probably doing this as a Last ditch effort to gain new subscribers for the magazine by puting other things than Anime in the magazine... Sounds Bad to me [nono]

the problem with newtype is that it was 14 dollars an issue
there are many other options, i would never of subscribed myself

true, if you ever looked in there magazine, most of the pages are full page color anime ads

thats how they make their money. The ads pay for their costs. Subscriptions are free money to them.

and ADV owns them and we all know ADV doesnt have any anime on tv... so they broke

actually the Anime network is Cool.. you just need cable with ondemand or Satalite with the actual channel then you have 24hr Anime :P

so far as i can tell ADV is still selling in US although theres alot of reasons to think that they arnt making enough money and may disapear...
Geneon Has said their hurting and would disapear but Yet they say they are releasing more things too...
there is reason to think that genoen USA is going out of buisness and stoping production but that they havent publically sold all the Inventory of anime they have created and produced and so they may have a year or 2 of New anime to sell but are not producing any more for the US and then will dissapear when they have unloaded everything even if not for a profit.
