Don't Ask, Don't Tell; A Voice To Senate
« on: September 18, 2010, 01:29:05 AM »
Lady Gaga speaks up against senate in order to get the military "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy repealed.

The message she is sending out I not only highly approve of, but am happy to see a young voice with so much available publicity speaking up on the behalf of those incapable of doing so themselves as effectively. Homosexuals willing to serve their country have every right to do so, and should not be discharged for doing so.

why listen to this crazy slut, she is destroying young women of america, just because she found a cause does not change the fact this is just a publicity stunt

what the hell does she know about politics really, she is reading from a script someone else wrote (badly too)

sorry addy, but i like a few of her songs, but this lady is not the right voice for glbt, lady gaga glorifies & exploits sex, i think her voice would do the reverse effect

i think the public would listen more to;

Ellen, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch even Ricky Martin, these people are more professional

First of all, her songs and videos dont symbolize who she is as a person; everyone is how they are for a reason. She is actually very inspirational to girls out there that are rejects, as she was in school, and that think they are ugly and could never be where she is now because only popular girls get there. Either way, script or no script, the message and the bringing the problem to the surface is a good thing and you are being overly judgmental.

xP And I dont think the suit was all that bad xP I think it was her hair; she should of put it up

The Don't Ask Don't Tell thing has been around for a long time, so anyone who could fall victim to it should just prepare for it and work around it if they really want to enlist. There isn't a solution, so nothing has changed in the ways things are done, which is to be expected.

I don't really know how sexuality is relevant in military service, its not a big deal. Perhaps as a training tactic, they aimed at removing sexual desires from the environment in order to keep soldiers focused, thus the separate boot camps for guys and girls and such. Now that gay people are more open, and its socially acceptable to be openly gay, there are people in boot camp that are receiving distractions, which the military tried to exclude.

The military is about conformity, not about individuality, and the tactics used to create soldiers and skilled people can seem ridiculous from an outsiders perspective, thus they have their own court systems.

I think the problem is non-military people putting their noses in the military's business because its a whole 'nother world over there.

 I strongly doubt that the military just hates gay people. Sexuality is a social thing, the military isn't a social organization. So just leave it at the door.

Thats not true, there are a lot of coed boot camps, take Fort Jackson for example; largest training center of the U.S. army with both female and male recruits. If it is permitted that they train together, where sexual desires exist, then it  should be permitted that gays train together, where sexual desires exist.

Anyone willing to serve their country should not be rejected based on their sexuality. They are risking their lives to keep America safe, yet America won't even approve of their sexuality?

I was taking a guess that they'd want to minimize sexual desires because they could be a distraction. As for rejection based on sexuality, its just the same argument that went on when women were demanding equal treatment.

I think a major problem is that the government never makes it very clear just why they disallow anyone from serving. Its the TRUE Dont ask, Dont tell.
