And it is a gewd book... I'm mostly Lithuanian and German, so to see what some immigrants from Lithuania, along with many other European countries went through struck me as interesting. It was an amazing book, with a good depth into politics... Still think Jurgen became a bit of a pussy tho... No offense if you liked his character...

No, it was a giant muckraking advertisement for socialism... It was a hate fest on capitalism, and was meant to be an eye opener, while depicting things such as poverty, need for social programs, crappy living and working conditions, and the hopelessness of the poor never being able to advance in society because the rich just metaphorically (and in some cases literally) beat them nearly to death. It explores a lot of things, mainly corruption, even in law. Just goes to show, money is everything in America.

People insulting my knowledge and degrading me, when they don't have a clue where I'n coming from... No, I wasn't using google as my "source of knowledge", I have a brain of my own, and use it often... I admit to using the internet, not as a source of knowledge, but to get some other book reviews, to see if I was wrong in my perspective, or if others agreed with me. Clearly others agreed with me. I read that book, did an in depth analysis, and wrote an awesome essay for my honors english class about that books... and you wouldn't know the teacher I had, but he was one of the my toughest graders you could ever see, and didn't mind making a student look like a fool in front of his or her peers, in fact, he got some sadistic kicks out of it... Don't insult my knowledge like I'm some fool, because I'm a sweet person, but I do have some bite. Sheesh...
I don't need you getting smart, and acting like I'm not smart, because I stopped letting people walk all over me, and don't tolerate this stuff anymore. Not even online. I am a teenager, in all honors classes, with high honor role, a member of the national honor society, and I even attend college courses in my free time, just for the sake of learning new things (i don't get credit for them either, I can't afford to take the classes for credit so I sit in on them and participate). I am far from an idiot.

I read the book years ago, and I dont have a great response to it because I didnt write a damn report on it, if you hadnt then im sure your response would not have been so in dept either. I could have researched it, but I chose not to, it wasnt worth it to me really. I just think its a great book w/out have to symbolicaly destroy it.
