Title: Picky About Food
Post by: bloo-apple on April 18, 2010, 09:08:46 PM
I'm so picky about everything I eat. I hate all kinds of food. I hate Chinese and Thai and everything made by them yellow people. All of it. It disgusts me, but I wish I could like it. I hate that I hate so much food, know what I mean? I hate a lot of Mexican food, and I hate Indian food, the list goes on and on.
Even my parents are starting to get pissed at me for hating so much food, but it's not my fault. It's just the way I am. And when I'm presented with food I actually like, I'll eat buckets of it.
I'm trying to expand my taste buds though. I used to not eat any vegetables, but now I enjoy broccoli and carrots and stuff like that. So I was wondering, are you guys picky? And also, do you think that, as picky people get older, they'll enjoy more types of food?

The more they explore the more foods they get used to. I'm pretty picky myself, but i like a lot of things, just nothing spices, or shrooms, (ewwy)

I love breads and salads and all sorts of soup and am very open to trying all sorts of new things; if i havent had it I'll give it a try (unless its known for being spicy or has shrooms) I went through a stage of trying various fruits, mostly suggested by FW, like pomegranate and fig. Pomegranates are yummmmyyy but figs are super ickyy. I also dont like banana or fish sticks, or most other fish, but i love lobster, clam, oyster, shrimp, I'm not a big fan of chocolate, because it upsets my stomach, but i will eat it from time to time, because it is yummy sometimes. I also dont like soda much... I love all sorts of juice though =3 Really it depends on my stomach, if its upset i think everything is unappealing, and if i go a long period of time with stomach pain and it starts getting better, everything looks yummy, because I'm like.. starved ;P

ive had my times in my life when i was picky, But after your 25 youll be suprised how your taste buds will re evaluaTE things, i donno why you dont like mexican foods? maybe you havent had the unhealthy ones like chese enchaladas? same with chinese try somthing like the Lemon chicken with white rice get all the americanized versions of the food and i think you might claim to like them.

I hate that everything is Americanized

We had a german chef come to our school and cook for the german students, he was born and trained in germany, so it was entirely authentic, and it was so amazing compared to all that americanized german stuff; a whole new taste to it

There is not a single food item I do not like in any ethnic dish, for the longest time I didn't like the center of tomatoes, but I can eat them now. Also there was a few years when I was really little and didn't like lima beans, but that was just kid stuff. Food is the best thing about humanity :B

Why do you hate so many foods bloo? Is it the aroma, the spices, the texture? Or do you just not like trying new things?

New York has a Chinatown too =D

But yeah, you live in one of those states that are so big, that they also have a lot of ethnically diverse restaurants and food products available to the common man, while around here we just have American diners, fast food, Americanized Italian places (aka. pizza parlors), and a few Chinese places and German places

So if you live in an area that doesn't have ethnic dishes, how can you claim to not like them?
I don't think that since I live in an area with various styles of food its a given  that I'd like all of them.

Lol just because I don't like trying things? That would be really stubborn.

No it is more the spices, and the smell, as well as the texture. But especially the spices.  I don't explore very often, but if someone introduces me to something I try to but I seem to hold it in my mouth and eat it slowly more than eat it flash like they do.

well then you have two paths you can follow, try and get used to new things, or just stick to what you like. Neither is right nor wrong.

of course not, if you don't like it you don't have to eat it. The person would feel bad if they made you eat something you didn't like just for politeness.
