Title: Is it ok for parents to discipline their kids with hitting?

This is a sensitive subject, and we wont report anyone. I was never hit by my parent. But my siblings, yes. My brother spanked me because I was really really bad when I was a kid. A regular Bart Simpson.. But only once.

Mom just spanked me with the wooden spoon if I got in trouble.
From an early age I was terrified of the idea of being punished, so I just avoided trouble to begin with.
Parents should be allowed to discipline their kids, the government can't, their teachers can't, only the parents. Its a tricky subject that is just that, subjective...

i think parents should be allowed, and should still do it
if the kid wants to tell on his/her parents, it's is there fault they are up for adoption

I never was hit once as a child--my mother absolutely abhorred the idea and my father just didn't really care.
If you ask me, some brats these days deserve Buri-Buri torture.

a lot of kids generally take advantage of their status as minors, and will taunt adults and egg them on, because they know the adults aren't allowed to do anything about it other than tattle on them.

Thats not true for almost any kids until they are teenagers, and by that point spanking them would be inappropriate anyway, and furthermore relatively ineffective because it only harbors resistance and anger and makes them more defiant

yeah its all situational, sometimes the kids put the parrents in a situation where theres nothin else you can do that really works for controlling them..

There is NEVER a reason the physically injure a kid, if the parent can't control their child, then they are approaching parenting wrong and needs to try new things. When I'm a parent I won't ever raise a hand to my child, no matter the circumstances; its not the right way to approach parenting and discipline. Also, after so many hits, physical discipline won't work either. Its unacceptable for a child to get hit by any grown adult.

i think spankings are needed, and shouldn't be policed
it has been effective for years, it is an insult that people think they can control other peoples parenting
look at the different generations, in the past, parents got more respect now kids are uncontrollable because they think they have power, and what we get out of it is high suicide rates, emos, and kids addicted to gadgets who find it hard to read a simple book (YES ADDY THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS)
there should be a National Spank your Kid Day

Thats the worst idea I ever heard. That isn't true respect, its kindled fear. Furthermore, there is just as much suicide as there was back them, it's just more publicized now, same goes for emos and addiction, except addictions in the past were WAY worse than they are now. Misbehaving children, or children with misconceptions of power are that way strictly because of the parents; be a better parent if you want a better behaved child.

Yeah, as a kid I used to have to stand against the wall and stare at it and when we fought with our siblings we had to hug each other and stand there hugging for like a half hour and if we were still misbehaving the time went up
