Title: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: kinjo on July 08, 2009, 07:41:53 PM
I want to goto saturn, we say there is water on mars, now saturns moon, why are we not there yet!!!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090624/ap_on_sc/us_sci_saturn_moon

NEW YORK – Scientists have found new evidence that one of Saturn's moons has an ocean beneath its surface. That's important because liquid water is a key ingredient for life.
The moon is an icy body called Enceladus (en-SELL-uh-duss.) It gives off huge plumes of water vapor and ice grains, and scientists used the Cassini spacecraft to sample material from those jets.
They found particles containing sodium salts, which indicates that the plumes arise from liquid water.
But a second team of scientists found no sign of sodium with a different sampling method. They concluded there could still be a deep ocean on Enceladus, but that there are also other possible explanations for the moon's jets.
Both papers are reported in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature

Oh sure I can, but at the time I never have anything witty to say. In like another week I will suddenly be like... doing the laundry or something and suddenly be like "HA! I HAVE A WITTY COMEBACK RED!" And it will have been much too late.

Oh thanks Kinjo and I have a question for you.

Let's say every planet in our solar system suddenly had oxygen. Which planet would you want to live in?
Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: Wesker on July 19, 2009, 09:17:18 PM
Mars. That's where all the people lived in Total Recall!

Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: OMUTSU on July 19, 2009, 11:28:01 PM
so anyways, mars has water...kinda. but its frozen, and its on the poles. people been thinkin of putting mirrors up on mars, and point them at the polar ice caps, and melting them to bring wtaer to the planet. then, sending in trees and other vegetation to supply the planet with oxygen...however...is the soil any good up there? and is there carbon dioxide or whatever for the plants to breath? oh well

Why do we have to  [cen] with everything?

If we did that, what could the consequences be? o.o I see bad things in the future...
Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: Wesker on July 20, 2009, 12:32:58 AM
I doubt that there will be consequences for doing it, but it'll be another planet that we tampered with or just exclude for the worse.
Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: OMUTSU on July 20, 2009, 12:39:44 AM
the only negative thing about this is how much money it will cost...that, and if there are any failures or mistakes/deaths
Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: Adelaide on July 20, 2009, 12:45:47 AM
you guys aren't looking beyond the simple concept...

we all thought cars and factories that could effectively mass produce products were awesome too when we made them, but now we are faced with global warming and low resources

There could be more consequences that that which you can think of off the top of your head

The matter of the fact is we are tampering with things obviously not meant to be tampered with...

We are probably just setting an early expiration date for yet another planet... whoohoo...
Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: Xicor on July 20, 2009, 05:05:45 PM
You see, the reason for global warming and depleting resourses is because we have not figured out how to renew resorses. If everyone in the world would put their ideas together ans stop this senseless fighting and war, then maybe progress can be made.

Doing that to a planet is way to far difficult to be successful today with our technology.
Today, it would take months or years to merely get to mars more and less Jupiter or further. Once we get over the first hump, faster progress can be made.

If we can conquer and master our planet, then we can THINK about conquering our solar system.

I'm sure someone will possibly disagree, but I stand by what I say. If I'm wrong, I will then stand corrected.
Title: Re: Saturn moon has liquid water below surface
Post by: Adelaide on July 20, 2009, 05:12:26 PM
We know how to restore depleting resources: Wait millions of years for them to restore themselves. We even have some ways of using other resources in place of them, but the fact is the economy, and since "going green" is too expensive, we use the cheap shit killing the planet. We all have our cars, we aren't gonna go out and by an expensive hybrid! Instead we will screw our planet over.

War will never end and peace will never be achieved and we will continue to screw with out solar system because we don't know when and where to draw the line. It is within human nature to be greedy. I would have given a better argument with more facts and such, but I must be to work now, so late I'll submit a more worth while argument. Byes.

Saturn is practically the coolest looking planet in our solar system.
