What Is Evil Genius?

Evil Genius is a strategy/simulation game based in a 60s spy thriller where you can assume the role of an evil mastermind bent on ruling the world by creating a doomsday device the world has never seen! Build your own secret lair, increase your notoriety through devious acts of infamy and fight back the forces of evil.

You can choose between three evil villians each with their own different abilities in your quest to take over the world.  [cowb]

Maximilian
Alexis

Shen Yu

Every Evil Genius comes with their own starting henchman, with more henchmen/women available as you increase in notoriety and become more well known in the world, such as...

Red Ivan: The Former General of the Russian Secret Police

and

Dr. Neurocide: A Scientist turned Evil after a Cosmetic Accident

In addition to your henchmen, you will also have incredibly loyal minions doing what you wish for no pay or compensation. These are the back bone of your evil lair, making sure everything goes according to your evil bidding as well as defending it and reserching your evil ideas.  [rocket]
As you progress in the game, you unlock more evil minions that specialize in military, science or social fields.

Review

Overall, the game is very well presented and made to run smoothly. It allows a lot of room for you to build upon from the layout of your base to how many of each minion type you have. Although, there are many glitches such as unexplainable game crashes.
The graphics are good to say the least, since the game was released in 2004, but only minor details will be noticed and won't even matter unless you choose to zoom so close into things like minions and thoroughly examine their features.
Gameplay runs smoothly, the icons and buttons are there for easy access and all are explained in the Tutorial level of the game. Shortcuts are even given on the keyboard to create even more accessibility and ease for the player. Doing things and accessing menus are easy and the game can essentially be played with only your mouse. Placement of objects and moving things are as easy as the menus and is made not to irritate you. The storyline will take you a long time making the game one you can't just beat in a couple of days or so. As the game progresses though, but some restrictions are only applicable to places and be impossible to complete once you advance in the storyline.
The soundtrack composed is top notch and is very fitting to the style the game is set it and the what is going on, such as a change in music when an agent arrives on your island, as opposed to what plays normally.
The concept of this game was very different allowing you to be the Dr. No or Dr. Evil against the world with the 60s spy theme which allows people to delve into the bad guy's shoes instead of defeating him/her.
Playing the game all over again will just usually bring the same results unless you would like to try different strategies, doomsday devices and evil geniuses, but apart from that, you will experience basically the same game as you did before.

Gameplay: 9/10
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 10/10
Concept: 10/10

Overall: 8.7/10

I've heard it compared to TF2, the lady that announces events in the game even sounds like the Announcer in TF2, but that's all I've heard to how its compared.

Unfortunately there is no online play. ):
