Yeah So in Prescott WI which is 2 Miles Outside of MN and 40 Miles from the Twin Cities, with Old TV technology of analog antennas even on the clearest days made for the best reception you would typically only get, FOX, NBC and KSTC 45 and UPN 29 would come in but slightly fuzzy or jumpy and sometimes Worse and WCCO, TPT, and ABC would rarly come in at all and on the particular day they miraculously would it would suck Loose color come in very fuzzy and make you sea sick..
Well for awile Looking for Options and just generaly trying to keep myself Tech informed i had For Over 2 years heard How the HD Antennas and HD Out puts from the TV stations are Much more Clearer and far reaching and solve the problems of broadcasting to places Like where i live.. i forever wondered Could it really be true? or was it just Technical hype to sell the stuff ... But with the Looming FFC rules Mandating the Switch to HD only broadcast on feb 17th 2009, i was finaly Motivated to Pay 60$ for the RCA HD Antenna and 60$ for the Zenith HD converter box so that i could have watchable TV in my room again and forever after the HD only date
And to my Amazement it Lives up to the HYPE it is Awesome i have 11 HD Local Tv stations and they all come in CRYSTAL Clear better then Normal Analog antenas would work Living in the City at times in my life.
So what are the 11 Tv channles you ask?
i have 2 TPT Sations the Normal Channle 2 us in MN are all accoustomed too and TPT world which many Comcast cable tv sub scribers have and shows tons of World History programs and documentarys!
WCCO/CBS channle 4
KSTP/ ABC channle 5 and a Bonus KSTP Local channle 5 that shows constant local news and Dual Programming like when 2 College football games have the same time slot but shown to different regions, its a new channle ive never seen but its AWESOME it even shows ABC's primetime shows at off peak hours!
KMSP/FOX Channle 9
KARE/NBC channle 11 and a Bonus KARE 11 Weather Plus Channle that constantly shows Kare Local news and informational shows while always showing you a weather radar and Current up to the minute City weather information so its your 24/7 Local weather channle!
WUCW/WB channle 23
WFTC/UPN channle 29
and lastly KSTC channle 45 owned by ABC as a dual channle 5 with lots of ABC's older shows and programming.
But i am STOKED The HD TV technology Lived up to the hype, and with the converter box it even has windows to give you a TV guide and tell you whats on and whats on next and give you descriptions of the show or episode you are watching and SAP and closed captioning even work somthing that usualy analog antenas would not handle at all!
so again My 120$ for the HD hardware i feel has been well worth it!
and i ask Have you Upgraded to the future yet? or will you be left behind without local Non Pay per month TV after feb 17th 2009?
