No, not usually... People have different stress capacities, and what starts out as little stresses, becomes anxiety, and develops into depression. Depression, unlike what most people assume is deep sorrow, is actually not what it seems to be. If you are sad for a week, it doesn't mean you are depressed, it means you are down. Depression is a long term thing, often confused with just plain sadness. Actually, you don't have to be sad to be depressed. Having a lack of any kind of motivation for a long period of time is depression.
Most people cry "depression" just because they want the attention however, when its either just sorrow, or as simple as nothing more than that desire for attention. Most emos just like the style and want an excuse to paint their nails and wear tight pants so they label themselves depressed, dress like it, and go about their lives as usual.
Then emos are often confused with goths, in the high school stereotype chain. Not that I go with stereotypes much, but I've noticed with a lot of goths, its more a fascination with the look, than so necro loving freak show, and they just conform to what they think people want them to be. A lot of people choose to be goth because the look is intimidating, and if people
with them a lot, going goth is an easy solution. People don't
with scary goths, they feel a sense of intimidation.
Well... I'm done ranting...
