General Info: In the future, personal computers have developed into "Persocoms", mobile computers that look like human beings. Hideki Motosuwa, a prep school student, desperately wants to buy a Persocon but cannot afford to. One day he finds a Persocom that has been thrown away and decides to keep it. When he turns on the Persocom, all she can say is "Chi" so he decides to name her that. After a while it starts to become apparent that Chi is more than an average Persocom. Having much better performance, it seems that Chi might be a "Chobit", a type of advanced Persocom rumored to have independent thought.

Characters:
Hideki Motsuwa: Hideki Motosuwa is an eighteen (nineteen in the Manga) year old ronin (repeat student) who is attempting to qualify for University by studying at the Seki cram school in Tokyo. He's an honest and kind teenager who was raised on a farm, and unfortunately for him, has no experience with women. He has a very active imagination, which tends to result in him talking to himself in public. Hideki is interested in finding a girlfriend, but also has a great desire to have a Persocom, a computer shaped in the form of a human that can do all sorts of things. Although he cannot afford one, his luck holds out when he finds one lying in a garbage dump on his way home from the groceries, which he names Chi.
Chi: Chi is a Persocom who is found by Hideki Motosuwa in a garbage dump. At first, she is only able to say "Chi", thus earning her that name. Later on, she is taught various things, and is eventually able to communicate with other people.
My Review: Chobits is very likeable anime that, although funny and upbeat, does seem to drag on near the end. Hideki has a simple but loveable personality, his simple mindedness and selflessness almost compltely prevent you fom disliking him. Chi's lack of social knowledge and Hideki's awkwardness lead to many humorous situations. The veneer of hilarity ends around 2/3 of the way through the anime, and lead to many twists that most would not see coming.

Nice review, I thought the ending got a little too mushy, and the sci-fi stuff seemed out of place. but the comedy was great! Did you watch the DVD's theres a special feature with Chis Panties or something that is hilarious.

=P Gewd review, was pretty informative as usual, and well written/organized...
Random question... Wouldn't having a computer human be expensive and problematic, and what are they going to do about laws now?! I mean... not only do you have to buy the computer, but you have to pay for clothes, and what if you let your computer walk around naked? Do you get in trouble for public nudity? And... like... is it real hair or fake hair? Like did they shave off a horse's tail to give robot girl hair?! o.o

OMG I Own and love CHOBITS! and yes the panty episodes are crazy (theres 2 one in the series dvd and one on the Seasonal bonus 7th dvd) the music is awesome in this series and this anime really sprawls out at times on several issues then pulls itself back to its original plot.. the relationship issues and heartfull episodes can really be emotional and drive you to want to be a better person for people rather then just a greedy man desperate for a woman that you want, certainly a CLassic series worth owning in my book!
