one time I had too much benedryl and I was seeing and hearing things it made my chest hurt the morning after..

I believe it was probably constricting my air because I know one of the side-effects to losing air is your mind sees things o.o maybe that's what happened.

o.o... benedryl doesnt have those effects even via overdose... if you did overdose you'd just sleep a lot, maybe have confusion, blurred vision, ringing... o.o fever from your body thinking it has to fight something off.. I really high overdose could cause seizures and hallucinating, but if that happened, I'd have to question your motive in taking that much, because I dont see how anyone accidentally overdoses to that extreme

Like many other first-generation antihistamines, diphenhydramine can cause strong sedation, due to H1 receptor antagonism. As such, diphenhydramine has also been used as an anxiolytic because of this side effect. It is also a potent anticholinergic agent, leading to the side effects of dry mouth and throat, increased heart rate, pupil dilation, urinary retention, constipation, and, at high doses, hallucinations or delirium. Further side effects include motor impairment (ataxia), flushed skin, blurred vision at nearpoint owing to lack of accommodation (cycloplegia), abnormal sensitivity to bright light (photophobia), difficulty concentrating, short-term memory loss, visual disturbances, irregular breathing, dizziness, irritability, itchy skin, confusion, decreased body temperature (generally in the hands and/or feet), erectile dysfunction, and excitability.[14] Some side effects, such as twitching, may be delayed until the drowsiness begins to cease and the person is in more of an awakening mode. Diphenhydramine also has local anesthetic properties, and has been used for patients allergic to common local anesthetics like lidocaine.[15]

and before you say that is WikiPedia!

Benadryl at a high dose acts as a Hallucinogen. High dose is above 350mg+.

In the 300mg to 400mg range you feel the effects of the Diphenhydramine. small Hallucinations such as paranoia, voices and whispers occur. As you move into the 400mg to 500mg range you begin to misunderstand your surroundings and misinterpret visuals along with the effects of paranoia, voices and whispering. Also conversations with friends and family members who are not present randomly occur.

As dosage increase, hallucinations occur more often and the ability to distinguish between them and reality fades. It is not to harmful yet the transition into the 'high' state is extremely nauseating and dizzy.

After the high passes shakiness is still present for awhile after.

Like I said I saw things and It doesn't take that much to hit 350 mg.

Benedryl is taken 50 Mg tri-hourly I usually do one pill over meaning it would be easy for me to accidentally hit over 350 mg within the timespan if I wasn't paying attention which I wasn't.. some people don't get as tired from Benedryl like myself. o.o

No you take 25-50mg every 4-6 hours.

That means AT MOST you should consume no more than 300mg a day, but never at once would you ever have that much in your system; the reason you take it every 4-6 hours is because the medicine wears off in that time, so you have less in your system... So unless you purposely overdose you'd never have more than 100mg in your system at once, and even that is a high estimate.

which is like what? 10 50mg benedryl tablets within the same hour... thats obviously intentional; for 350 its 7 tablets. I just dont see how that can be accidental, unless you're just being idiotic or you have alzeimers
