"Come on baby won't you show me what you got
I want your salvation
There's a neighborhood called blackhawk
Where all the rich people hide
I was down on my luck working for the salvation army
The shelter is where i reside
Everyday we drive into blackhawk
And we pick up the offerings
Microwave, refrigerator for the suffering
Come on baby won't you show me what you got
I want your salvation
I can't believe these people live like kings
Hidden estates and diamond rings
I'm a rat out on a mission
I'm in your front yard under suspicion
Come on baby won't you show me what you got
I want your salvation"
This song is about the people of Blackhawk, a community that treats itself like its own city, about 20 min south of me :3
The song is actually accurate to how they live their lives there, you have to pass thru countless gates to get to different areas of the community and there are tons of specific rules of what you can or can't do on your own damn property. They even have vehicle restrictions, so if you have an unpleasant looking car, you'll be denied entrance, or bumper stickers, or licence plate frames. They are the Anti-tacky nazis of the world :P
Its also tru how they constantly throw out perfectly good appliances and things because they are 'outdated' or whatever. I used to have customers in Blackhawk and would take advantage of whatever someone put out on their curb, cause whatever it is, it still works. :P
