Love them Gorillaz. Great animated works and one of hte best non-real (i guess) bands out there--then again, probably the only.

The Gorillaz are alright. They're... Less "rap" than you'd think. It's just the style of the music. Honestly, to me, this would classify as rap, although there are a few misconceptions with this. Daniel, I believe you're contributing all "rap" music to the category of shit music, known as "Gangster Rap". Mainstream Hip-hop, Pop and most mainstream rap (Due to the fact that most is in fact, Gangster rap) like the Gorillaz is music I tend to avoid, but there are exceptions for me. The Gorillaz happen to be one of these mainstream rap bands that I enjoy listening to. I listen to a variety of music, but I would never put the Gorillaz into the same category as something like Snoop-Dogg, Ice Cube or George Clinton. That type of music bothers me.

Just so you know, I listen to pretty much everything besides Mainstream hip-hop, pop and rap. My most common types of music that I listen to are Techno/Trance (Also includes D&B), and Rock (Classic, Metal, and even things like Screamo.)

I am a big Gorillaz fan, they are a wonderful band and their use of sounds and instrumentals is amazing. Their videos are awesome, and their lyrics amazing, and the style of their music is pretty original, which I further applaud them for. ^^

As it goers for the topic of rap, yes this can be categorized as rap, but they have their own sound to it, so people are often skeptical. As Blue Whale (is that what I call you?) said previous to me, its different from mainstream rap. I like all music, for the most part (there are exceptions) so i listen to practically everything. Rap isn't all bad, even the hip hop mainstream stuff. Eminem, (who I'm a fan of) has some shitty crap out there

but he also happens to have some pretty good stuff, like Mockingbird and When I'm Gone (both dedicated to his daughter) and then also Like Toy Soldiers (Which was dedicated to Proof after he was killed. It was pretty much about how he loves rap but he didnt get into the business to have to see pppl he loves die... its actually really powerful) yeah... i just ranted... byezzz!

Those bands aren't rap... that little thing where rap meets rock has its own name ;) theres rap rock(e.g. Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit), nu metal (e.g. Korn), and rapcore (e.g. Beastie boys!!!).

I never ment that the rap parts are gangster rap. I just mean you are listening to this techno song or just alternative rock stuff and then it changes into rap randomly. again only in a few songs.
