Square A and B are the same color o.o I didn't believe it so i checked teh pixel colors with an add-on for firefox called colorzilla, and they actually are 0.0

yep, colors seem to change as they are next to other colors, I get that all the time with mah pixel art

wrong, its the way the rods work in our eyes; greyscale is the scheme being dealt with, rods are more sensitive than cones and see all things white to black and every shade in between, and add shading and depth to everything, the cones you mentioned deal with ROYGBIV and all colors in between those. You should have just said photoreceptors, that covers both cones and rods and would be correct.
