Title: Midway Games going bankrupt?
Post by: Wesker on December 05, 2008, 09:41:25 PM
According to an associate of mine at the Mortal Kombat Blackout forums:

Quote
Do you guys realize how close Midway is to bankruptcy? The owe 250 million dollars, and need to pay it by January. And that just ain't gonna happen, seeing as they only have 75 million in assets (MK being one of them).
Their stock is selling for pennies. Their shareholders are DEMANDING their loans back.
This shit just got real serious boys and girls.

The house that built MK is going down the tubes, and at this point, it is almost %100 that the next MK will not be made by Midway. They have to liquidate to attempt to get the shareholders their money back, and just what do you think Midway has left of any value to people?
That's right ... OUR MK!

When I first heard of this possibility I thought, ah, someone will just scoop up Midway, and it'll be just like before, except it'll say EA or Activision before Midway when I load the game. But that's not the case. No one is going to buy Midway. It just doesn't make any sense at this point. MK isn't enough to make back that money, and everyone knows it.

MK is in real danger of dying people. And unless one of you is uber, UBER rich, there is nothing we can do about it.

What a shit-load of  [cen]  it is that MK vs. DC could be the last MK game ever.
I'm quite sad and upset. Sorry for ranting.

this news ain't good, fellas. We could lose one of the greatest fighting franchises in history!

As far as I'm concerned, the last REALLY good MK game was Deadly Alliance, although I enjoyed Shaolin Monks alot too.

I never forgot playing those. They just kinda left the arcades and were replaced by newer Silent Scopes and HotD's.

I only know of ONE arcade, the same arcade that stole 20 dollars from me and all I got was the gratitude of beating Time Crisis 3

Lols.. yeah the beginning of the End of arcades...

man i mean id only cost me 5$ to beat double dragon, 5$ for Simpsons, 10$ for TMNT 1 and 5$ for TMNT the time warp, and my best story when i was 5 i beat Dragons Lair with just 2$ and had a crowd of some 30-40 people watch in amazement and the manager gave me like 500 Prize tickets and 20 game tokens because of the Huge aplause and said it was good Publicity!

Much like Shin, I've blown countless dollars to try and beat Time Crisis 3. I still do to this date and can never make it to the very final level.

That game I always thought was hard because it was reaction base if I remember correctly and it never did what I wanted it to do, when I wanted it to so I always died....

Shame, I never played Dragon's Lair before--never found it at the arcades at my time. I was busy playing Mortal Kombat 3.

never played at an arcade place. I always had the games i wanted to play at my house, if i did not have a game i wanted to play i would go to the rental place around the corner and get the game. i usually beat each game i rented within the week. and most of them were those darned RPG's. oh so LONG. T_T

yeah RPG consumer myself
Title: Re: Midway Games going bankrupt?
Post by: black death on December 21, 2008, 02:13:07 PM
yeah, me and my bro would always take turn playing them. we usually had an account or whatever for both of us we would usually BOTH beat it by the end of the week. if it was a long one i would watch my bro beat it. and when we got a PS2 we were living in a different house, it had 3 bedrooms(the one im living in nao) so we could not both play it because we were in different rooms. so HE had the ps2 even though it was for both of us. so i kinda stoped playing games for awhile... T_T until we got a comp and i got some comp games ( and joined the 4M! :D) and a few months later i got ps2 and i started renting games.
